Numerical Investigation of Hematite Flash Reduction-biomass Steam Gasification Coupling Process

The flash ironmaking process is a novel technology; the direct use of biomass as reductant and fuel in this can take full advantage heat syngas produced during gasification. This study establishes three-dimensional computational fluid dynamics model that incorporates turbulent flow, mass transfer, transfer to describe complex gas-particle reaction behavior hematite reduction-biomass steam gasification (FR-BSG) coupling an entrained flow reactor explore its feasibility. temperature species distributions FR-BSG are analyzed, effects steam/carbon molar ratio (S/C) ore/biomass (O/B) investigated. results show reduction degree particles reaches 76.67% residence time 1.65 s under conditions S/C=0.1, O/B=1.0 T=1673 K. increase S/C enhance production H2 but reduce fractions CO syngas, which leads decrease degree. A higher lower carbon conversion be obtained at O/B values. These provide theoretical basis for energy technology.
